Stratfield, Brooklawn & Tunxis Hill

The community is vibrant, friendly, and many neighborhoods are known for their famous block parties.

Welcome to Stratfield, Brooklawn & Tunxis Hill

The Stratfield section of Fairfield is known for more affordable housing (the biggest bang for your buck) yet is one of the only sections in Fairfield that still offer the early 1900’s architectural charm. Typically, the Stratfield homes have smaller property sizes (less than a .025 acre, meaning less maintenance) but a friendly neighborhood feels with everyone out walking and riding bikes, enjoying the many parks within walking distance from almost all homes and neighborhood eateries.

This wonderful neighborhood, while home to the charming 1900’s homes, is large enough and able to offer its homeowners a diverse selection of homes which includes, but not limited to, 1950’s split level homes and ranches, which tend to offer a bit more space and larger properties.

The Brooklawn area is located within the larger Stratfield section of Fairfield and has a small association, The Brooklawn Park Association, which was established in 1913. It is home to historic, pre-World War 2 homes, exuding charm, grandiose features, and many with park-like properties. Driving through the tree-lined streets, many admire the different architectural details and styles from Normandy Colonials to the Georgian Revivals, from Tudors and Victorians to Mediterranean-style homes.

People & Lifestyle

The community is vibrant, friendly, and many neighborhoods are known for their famous block parties. This particular neighborhood is much like Cheer’s mantra, ”where everyone knows your name.” Sacred Heart University, one of two Fairfield universities, anchors this neighborhood by the North. Other features include Brooklawn Country Club, Lt Owen Fish Park, and Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course.

We’ve come to learn what a special community Stratfield is and have so much enjoyed everything Fairfield has to offer. Minutes from the Merritt or Fairfield Metro puts our house in the perfect spot to explore, commute and live day to day with ease and convenience. There is so much at our fingertips: two parks within walking distance, a quick ride to Easton farmers’ markets, and some of the best pizza and bagels in town just a 3 minute walk away. Our charming home is a total gem in Fairfield, and we will miss our amazing neighbors who have become lifelong friends.

Things to Do

This neighborhood wraps around the Brooklawn Country Club, a private club that offers its members golf, tennis, paddleball, swimming, and bowling, as well as top-notch dining and social programs. The club celebrates its 125th anniversary this year, 2020. Fun fact, Brooklawn was one of the first dozen-ish clubs to join the United States Golf Association in 1896.
